Packing Prep (aka Amazon overload)

It’s 10 days pre-departure and the spare bedroom looks like an Amazon outlet. I managed to count 8 pair of Darn Tough merino wool socks (I thought I bought 4), I’ve got two skorts with weird bicycle short inserts that could definitely constrict blood flow so those need to be returned. Then there’s a few too many Compeed bandaid packages, a last minute poncho, micro towel, fingerless gloves and even a battery operated neck fan Amazon told me others bought, according to my shopping cart selection.

Contents of backpack: poncho, rain pants and jacket, fleece vest, zip hoodie, first aid kit, bedrock hiking sandals, not yet packed: two water bottles and a few snacks, electrolytes.

I packed the 20L Osprey backpack today and wore it around the house, on a little jaunt through the orchard, then adjusted the shoulder straps and decided I could absolutely hike 26.4 km a day in this Tempest model featuring a breathable back. Time will tell.
